Project Type: Ponds, Water Gardens

Swim Pond with Wetland Filtration

Project Details:

We had installed several water gardens for this client over the last few years, including a pondless river garden and a koi pond with waterfalls. This water garden has a wetland filter underneath the pond, has a series of waterfalls, and even a beach for wading into the water. The client also has the option to add koi or goldfish if they want.

We created a beautiful recreational swim pond.

This water garden is about 30′ x 30′ and has a depth of over 5′. The waterfalls begin with a negative edge and ends with the water disappearing into a massive underground reservoir. This reservoir holds the pumps and makes it very easy for maintenance and service when needed.

Location

Cordova, TN

Client's Vision and Plan:

During the winter a massive storm system came through the mid-south and caused the customers backyard to hold water. The client jokingly told her husband, “Look at my new koi pond!” This opened their eyes to the possibilities of seeing a beautiful water garden out of their bedroom window. They wanted something that was both beautiful and functional. In the end they have a pond for swimming, cold plunges, hosting fish, and is beautiful to enjoy with a morning cup of coffee.

How Memphis Water Gardens Helped The Client:

We knew the client wanted a big koi pond so we had to provide solutions for getting the proper equipment to the construction site as well as providing filtration without reducing the size of the feature. By putting mulch and plywood down we were able to get our excavator into the space without any damage to customers property. Additionally, instead of putting the filtration system next to the water garden, we put it underneath it, providing crystal clear water and maximizing the size of the koi pond.
